Learning to move differently: physiotherapy for chronic pain
Living with chronic pain means coping every day with sensations that are variable, unpredictable and sometimes overwhelming. For many people, simple everyday tasks—such as walking, getting up, getting dressed and cooking—can become a struggle. And yet, even in these circumstances, every movement, however small, retains its value.
At LAVY Médical, our role as physiotherapists is to guide each individual towards a better understanding of their body, its limitations and its potential. In other words: to help them regain a more relaxed and confident relationship with movement.
Moving forward step by step, at your own pace
When dealing with persistent pain, every small step forward can feel like a huge achievement. Managing to put on your shoes, going out for a short walk without fear, or standing up whilst cooking for a few minutes: these are all seemingly trivial actions that can mark real progress in everyday life.

Our approach aims to identify these specific, personal goals and to develop a rehabilitation programme that takes into account what is achievable here and now. It is not about doing more, but about doing things differently, listening to the body, without overexertion or pressure.
A functional, personalised approach tailored to chronic pain
Everyone experiences pain differently. There is therefore no one-size-fits-all approach. At the LAVY Medical Centre, we tailor our sessions to take account of fluctuations, your current needs and how you’re feeling on the day.
This may include, depending on the circumstances:
- gentle exercises to restore some joint mobility;
- targeted strengthening exercises to support movements that are useful in everyday life;
- balance and coordination exercises to help them move around safely;
- breaks, rest periods and recovery time built into the programme.
The aim isn’t to focus on performance, but to regain functionality in the everyday tasks that matter: looking after your children, climbing the stairs, carrying a shopping bag, walking the dog…

We encourage our patients to incorporate a few simple habits into their summer routine:
- just a few steps away in the neighbourhood,
- some light stretching in the park,
- a moment by the water’s edge,
- a short burst of effort, followed by a proper recovery period.
These moments, however brief, can play a part in rediscovering movement as a source of confidence rather than tension.
Being there for you
At the LAVY Centre, we know that it isn’t always easy to ask for help or start treatment when you’re living with chronic pain. It takes courage, patience, and sometimes even coming to terms with the fact that you can no longer do the things you used to do.
Our commitment: to be there for you. Not to promise to make the pain go away, but to support you with dedication, consistency and respect.
To walk alongside you, step by step, over the long term.
